Sherry Johnson, DO
Dr. Sherry Johnson is a proud Alaskan and a graduate of West Anchorage High School. She pursued her undergraduate studies at Pfeiffer University, a small liberal arts college in North Carolina, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in biology while playing Division II Women’s Basketball on an athletic scholarship.
Dr. Johnson completed her medical education at Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences - College of Osteopathic Medicine from 2009 to 2013. She then embarked on a rigorous five-year General Surgery Residency at Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital in Michigan, where she became a Board-Certified General Surgeon.
Following her residency, she completed a prestigious Society of Surgical Oncology-accredited Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences - Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute from 2018 to 2019.
In the fall of 2019, Dr. Johnson returned to Anchorage to join Far North Surgery, where she practiced both Breast Surgical Oncology and General Surgery. As of October 2024, she has transitioned to practicing Breast Surgical Oncology at Alaska Breast Care and Surgery.
Dr. Johnson is deeply committed to giving back to the community that raised her. In addition to her busy schedule of surgeries and clinics, she serves on several committees and boards within the community. Since 2020, she has been the Alaska State Chair for the Commission on Cancer, where she works to improve the quality of cancer care across the state. She also attends at least one major Breast Surgical Oncology conference annually to stay at the forefront of breast cancer research and treatment. Her dedication to excellence earned her the title of "Best All-Around Doctor" at Alaska Regional Hospital in 2024.
When not at work, Dr. Johnson enjoys all things outdoors and spending time with her partner, Greg, as well as her local family and friends.
